Kelan M. Smith is an actor, musician, singer, director, and composer originally from Menomonie, Wisconsin. Kelan’s love of theatre started from a young age due to growing up around one of the world’s most spectacular theatres: The Mabel Tainter Center for the Arts.

Kelan holds a BFA in Musical Theatre Performance from Columbia College Chicago (2020). Since his arrival in Chicago in 2016, Kelan has performed in twenty productions, directed three productions, and played music in three pits. Kelan also has been writing a musical for the past three years with his best friend and collaborater Quinn Rigg, which had its first workshop in spring 2020 semester at Columbia College Chicago, run by Justin Brill and Jermaine Hill, with the Columbia College Chicago BFA class of 2020 serving as the actors. Kelan was a part of two shows in the 2019 Non-Equity Jeff Awards, including Bright Star with Boho Theatre, and Haymarket with Underscore Theatre Company, for which he and the rest of his uplifting cast were nominated for Best Ensemble.

In Kelan’s free time he likes to jam, cook food, eat food, and spend time with friends.
